Dredging 2020

Tweed Sand Bypassing has completed dredging of the Tweed River entrance for 2020. Dredging started on the 8th of August and was completed by the 23rd of August. A total of 110,178 cubic meters of sand was dredged from the entrance and delivered offshore of Bilinga, Snapper Rocks, Duranbah and Fingal.

WHAT ARE THE DETAILS?

The picture below shows a map of where the sand was placed.  Although there are various areas where sand can be delivered, the exact location of sand delivery is calculated by analysing hydrographic survey information. Placement does not occur near Kirra Reef, which has a placement exclusion area surrounding the historical outcrops.
