Current activities

Sand is currently being pumped to Snapper Rocks East and intermittently to Duranbah Beach (when supply conditions provide dense enough slurry)

Sand pumping occurs primarily at night. However, in certain circumstances such as system testing, pump maintenance and storm events, pumping may take place during the day.  When sand delivery outlets are discharging it is in your interest to keep clear for safety reasons. Dredging of the Tweed River entrance is not currently being undertaken

Dredging Campaign 7 commenced on 17 May 2008 and was completed on 24 September 2008. About 200,000 cubic metres of sand was removed from the Tweed River entrance area to improve navigation conditions. Sand was placed between Duranbah Beach and Pt Danger at depths of up to -20m below sea level. The main objective of this campaign was to place sand in such a way as to slow its movement into Coolangatta Bay.
